great post and couldn't agree more with your points. With my personal experience working with a well known brand, I think brands have a headstart when it comes to SEO on many levels. Being a well known brands brings more natural links & authority, which then needs to be utilized with a solid SEO structure. Also, once achieving good rankings with a brand, you are more likely to obtain a higher click through rate.

Well done Bruce. While these branded terms tend to have a higher conversion, this is not a zero sum game-- so it's not like there aren't other high-conversion terms out there, ripe for the picking. That's the beauty of the long tail, where everything is high conversion. I do believe 2008 is the year corporations will start to GET IT!

You hit the nail on the head with this post, kudos! I like the last paragraphs the best. When I first saw how long it was I almost didn't read it but I'm glad I did.

There are quite a few great quotes I like. One of my favs...
"An SEO'd site is a healthy site. It's one that performs better, smarter, faster and more efficient."
