It does feel like this went largely unnoticed, when it should be an extremely important addition to the markup of a lot of websites. I think a few of the problems are that a lot of the documentation available isn't that intuitive, Google don't guarantee rich snippets for marked up content, and the testing tool is a bit buggy. Therefore, why plough a considerable amount of resource into this when there's no guaranteed outcome? Nice post – good to get this back into everyone’s minds again.
