Bruce Clay Blog : Friday RecapSeptember 9, 2011
In the immortal words of Rebecca Black:
Gettin’ down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend
Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah)
Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Do a little partying for me while you’re at it. I’ll be getting myself in gear for SMX East next week. Lisa Buyer and I have committed ourselves (and I do mean straight jacket committed) to liveblogging 15 sessions during the week. Plus I’ll be reviving my roving reporter role for SEM Synergy along with keeping dates with some of my favorite industry and Gothamites.

Anyone else looking forward to the long weekend? I, for one, am ready to soak up the last bits of summer complete with poolside drinks and good music. Is it bad that I didn’t even know the origin of Labor Day until just today? No, it’s not derived from what I thought was a systematic honoring of all the hard work we Americans do. Labor Day actually stems from a controversial event that happened back in the late 1800s involving the killing of people on strike by U.S. Marshals. Party time?
Speaking of party time, it’s been a fun-filled week here at Bruce Clay, Inc. Most notably, we were really excited at the turnout and engagement of this week’s SEM Synergy show. If you missed it, you can read all the SEM Synergy highlights and inside scoop covering topics ranging from Affiliate Summit to hacking and website backup to Google+.

How else might I tickle your whistle? Falling squarely in the impressive category, baby can read!

It’s that time again boys and squirrels, ladies and germs. Another Friday recap from your friendly neighborhood SEOs at Bruce Clay, Inc. And what a wild week it was, too. Full of drama, suspense, espionage and slightly dysfunctional humor. Without further procrastination, the news of the week.
For those of you who are political junkies and are as fascinated as we are with social media infusion, I have good news and bad news. The good news is the White House joined Foursquare this week. Now we can see the president check-in all over Washington, DC and this great nation of ours, which will be kind of cool once campaign season is in full swing. The bad news is Barack Obama is not the mayor of the Oval Office quite yet.

Happy October, ghosts and ghouls! Though here in southern California, no one has got the memo that it’s autumn now (did you hear about LA’s record breaking 113 F?) we’re more than ready for the upcoming holiday season.

Phew … what a week. Susan and I were so discombobulated with Virginia gone, we couldn’t remember what day it was most mornings when we arrived, but each day we kept our eye on the prize, and that prize is the weekend. And now I finally know it’s here because I’m writing the Friday Recap!

We the people of the SEM community hold these truths to be self-evident that all search engines are not created equal. But while we knew the algos and layouts changed, how many people really thought about how that would change the heat maps? Turns out different search engines have very different eye-tracking patterns. Something to think about when you’re preaching the (now obsolete) Golden Triangle.

Virginia was gone this week at SES New York. She worked her fingers to the bone liveblogging and you can find all the fruits of her labor all summed up here in our SES NY Liveblog Coverage post. Want more sessions than that? All right, if you’re going to be greedy then you should head […]
