Google Code Search Goes Live

Google has been mighty busy this week but there's no rest for the weary. After Valleywag piqued our interest late yesterday afternoon, Google did in fact release Google Code Search, an engine that seeks to uncover public source code. Even stuff people never wanted you to find.

With Code Search, programmers can open up executable and other programming files not found in Google's main index. Or something. I don't know, it's all far too techy for me. Nathan seems to be enjoying it; maybe he can explain it to me.

Get Ping'd

Google also launched its Google Blog Search Pinging Service today, which allows bloggers to manually ping Google and inform them of blog updates by submitting their URL here.

Blog stuff = Awesomeness.

Microsoft, MTV join forces

The Guardian reports that Microsoft and MTV will work together to conduct a global study into the impact of the "digital-era phenomenon", or, in English, what MySpace and YouTube are doing to today's youth.

The study was commissioned by MTV and will look at the repercussions of social networking sites, email, instant messaging and other digital technology in China, Germany, the US, UK, Holland, Italy, India, Japan and Mexico. Do we really need a study to tell us that we're 80 percent less productive today than we were two years ago? [Apparently, yes. --Susan]

Must-Read Brett Crosby Interview

Avinash Kaushik interviewed Google Analytics Brett Crosby as part of his Ten Minute series and talked about the strengths of Google Analytics (its free and tightly integrated into AdWords), how you can use it as part of your SEO efforts, the difficulty of getting the right info to the right people at the right time, and how Paris Hilton + one raunchy Carl's Jr. video can make you Brett's most favorite client.
