Advanced Keyword Modeling

SES SF

Solo Presentation:
Bill Hunt, SES Advisory Board & President, Back Azimuth Consulting

Ok kids, time to get the live-blogging kinks out and see if I “still got it”. It’s after lunch and time for some good info to be shared across the IM community. It’s been a year since I last did this, so let’s see if my fingers can keep up.

Bill says he’s going to break up the session a bit, by covering the basics then going into the advanced. The audience is more advanced, so the basics should go quickly.

SES San Francisco 2011: Social Media Solutions on a Budget

online offline conversion

Jeff Harmon starts us off. 40% of all media consumption is online. He created a YouTube campaign to sell a tongue cleaner.

They did A/B testing on the landing page and found 19% of people who watched the video ended up on their website. He used YouTube Promoted Videos and wanted to at least break even. When they started to break even, he turned it up and then they sold 10 million units in a week. One YouTube power user did a review on Orabrush. The NY Times did a feature on Orabrush around the same time. The YouTube power user sent twice as much traffic to their site as NY Times.

SES San Francisco 2011: Conversion Triggers: Persuasion Strategies for Digital Marketers

susan bratton persuasion marketing keynote

Mike Grehan welcomes the crowd. Thirty years ago IBM released the first PC. Last year smart phones and tablets outsold the PC. By 2020, it’s estimated there’ll be 50 billion computing devices around the world. That’s what connected marketing week is about – strategies and tactics for the transient media consumer.

Now he welcomes our keynote speaker, Susan Bratton, co-founder and CEO of Personal Life Media, Inc.

She says she’s early in her journey to understanding persuasion marketing, but you may be able to learn from someone deep in the learning process. She’ll give us a high level overview of the scope of persuasion marketing. Everything she’ll talk about will be available at http://conversiontriggers.com.

Where We’re Going, We Don’t Need Page Numbers: Google & Infinite Scrolling

"Infinity"

Google seems to be in constant flux with all the changes they’ve made in the past month. We’ve witnessed the introduction of Google+ and all the fanfare that came with it. Streamlined changes were made to the Google Search interface. Gmail has a new preview pane. Google News added badges and editor’s picks, and it’s hard to ignore those click-inducing +1 buttons. To say that when it rains, it pours, is an understatement.

There is something else that’s pending implementation. It’s not a new idea. In fact, Facebook, Twitter and Bing currently have it, but the major players aren’t planning to use it the way Google will. If history teaches us one thing about Google, it’s that they can’t resist taking one idea and applying it to everything else. Plainly stated, Looks like Google is currently testing a sticky bar and infinite scrolling feature for its search engine.

My New Glasses

We’re in the business of helping our clients set up shop online. A new product we’re releasing in the coming week is one we hope will allow small local businesses to create sites optimized for local search, complete with analytics and monthly reporting. It’s our vision of the total package a local business needs to create a competitive, search and social friendly online presence with the expertise and infrastructure we’re in a unique position to offer.

But there’s one critical element of a website we can’t provide: your domain name. We can, however, offer guidelines and recommendations for how to pick a domain name that supports your brand and goals as a community business.
